How to make Mixed Berry Cobbler?
In this Mixed Berry Cobbler Recipe Post, I have shared two ways to make it.
In Oven
Everyone has a different way of making cobbler recipe. There are a lot of topping variations depending on region to region.
Some cobbler recipes are topped with a thick batter that is dropped by spoonful over the fruits before placing into the oven, some other cobblers are topped with biscuits or pie crust, some makes it with oatmeal.
I made it with semi thick batter. I love the way it bakes up so nice and fluffy.
Making cobbler is the easiest thing on the earth. All you need to do is
-
Prepare a baking pan
Take 9×9 inch baking pan, Add melted butter (Regular or plant-based) and keep it aside.
-
Batter
to make cobbler batter, you will require all purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, a pinch of salt and Milk (Regular or plant-based). Mix all this well
Pour this batter over melted butter. DONT MIX THEM UP.
-
Fruits
Wash and pat dry all the berries well. Chop strawberry into bite-sized pieces, Keep other berries whole. Sprinkle all the berries on top. Again DO NOT STIR.
-
Baking
This cobbler will take about 35 to 40 minutes @350 degree F.
Instant Pot Mixed Berry Cobbler
I failed 3 times while developing this recipe. And finally nailed it.
-
First trial –
First, I made this cobbler in a 7-inch cake pan. I cooked it for about 70 minutes. I liked the taste but didn’t like the texture. It was chewy. I didn’t satisfied.
-
Second trial –
In my second trial, I decided to cook directly in the inner pot of IP. It was a total mess. It got Burnt. 🙁
-
Third trial –
In the first trial, the taste was good but the problem was only texture. Thought cooking time was a problem. So I cooked it for only 55 minutes followed by NPR. The result was – little bit raw and pasty kind.
-
In My 4th trial,
I cooked it in mason jars and nailed it. The result was very close to the baked version. 🙂
In Instant Pot Cobbler, most of the things will remain the same. The difference is in timing and Instead of making in a glass pan, I made it in small Mason jars.
-
Prepare 4 oz mason jars
I have used 4 oz. mason jar to make this instant pot cobbler. You may use 8 oz. mason jars too or small ramekins.
-
Cooking time.
Cooking time will vary depending on the size of the ramekins you use. For 4 oz. Mason jar, cooking time will be 12 minutes on high pressure followed by NPR.
There couldn’t find much difference in oven and instant pot version. My family enjoyed both the ways.
Making cobbler in instant pot during summer time, when mostly we don’t prefer to turn on the oven, is a perfect way.

Im excited yet intimidated. My son has many #intollerances eggs, gluten, dairy, green peas, legumes, even oils such as olive oil and grape seed oil. I have to be careful of spices such as cinnamon and high sugar content. Any helpful instructions before trying uour recipe. Im hoping to not butcher it. He also tends to not be able to eat too much berries cpuld i add banana or apples in place of some of the berries? Thanks it sounds delicious!
Dhwani Mehta says
Hi Danielle! This recipe is very adaptable and can easily swap the ingredients.
You can use any fruits of your choice (Which your son is not allergic to) –
Apples, bananas, peach, plum, pineapple, – any fruits.
You may reduce the sugar quantity too if he is allergic to high sugar content.
Use gluten-free flour instead of All purpose flour.
I hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any other queries.
