Oats Idli Recipe is perfect for breakfast and one of the tasty and healthy Indian oats breakfast recipe. To make this Instant Oats Idli, you don’t need to ferment the batter. We love our fluffy and soft idli as a breakfast on most weekdays. I also give this to my son in the lunch-box.

Oats Idli

Oats is a healthy way to kick-start one’s day and We try to include it in our diet at least a couple of days in a week. We make Oats chilla, oats and quinoa dosa, oats chivda, Muthiya, etc.

Oats Idli is Instant and you can make them whenever the Idli craving strikes. This recipe is very similar to Oats Chilla recipe.

Oats Idli

These Healthy Oats Idli Recipe pair well with Coconut Chutney, Tiffin Sambar or Green Chutney. I have been making these idlis for a few years and have experimented a lot. I have made some changes in this recipe and updating it with new pics and some change in ingredients. The recipe shared here is what I have stuck with.

Oats Idli

I have used Old Fashioned Oats. But you can use any Plain oats of your choice. Just make sure you roast it well before you make a coarse powder. Also, use vegetables of your choice.

Idli in Instant Pot

If you want to make Instant Pot Idli, follow the exact recipe. Place 1.5 cups water in the inner steel pot of your IP. Hit the saute button. Now place the idli stand inside and close the Instant pot with its lid. Press the steam button, set the pressure valve for the venting position. In the venting position, Instant pot doesn’t count time. So please keep an eye on the watch. Idlis will get done in around 13 to 15 minutes.

Recipe for 24 Oats Idli

Direction

1. Dry roast oats and rava Separately for 2 to 3 minutes over a medium heat. Crush the oats into a coarse Powder.

2. Take both, roasted oats powder and rava, into a big mixing bowl. Add vegetables, curd, salt and ginger-chili paste. Mix them well.

3. Add Water very slowly. Don’t add all in one go. You might require less water. Mix in between. Make a batter like a normal idli batter consistency. Keep it aside for 30 minutes.

4. Bring the water in the steamer to a boil.

5. Make the idli in 2 batches. Take the half of the batter in a separate bowl. Add 1 teaspoon ENO and mix them well. Don’t let the batter sit for too long after adding ENO or soda. (If you can’t steam idli all in one go, divide the batter and add the ENO just before steaming).

6. Immediately pour the batter into greased idli moulds and steam for 12 to 15 minutes.

7. Poke an Idli with a toothpick or with a knife to check whether idli is cooked or not. If a toothpick comes out clean that means Idli is done. If not, steam it again for 5 minutes. Repeat the same process with remaining batter. Or you can store this batter for next day or make Oats chilla from this batter.

8. Oats Idli is ready. Serve them hot with coconut chutney.

Thanks Hema! I have used Upma rawa in this recipe. Never used Idli Rawa to make Oats idli. Idli rawa requires 4 to 5 hours of soaking before mixing it with oats and other ingredients. I hope this helps. Happy cooking!

Hi, is one serving one idli? 281 calories for one idli is a lot!

      Hi!
No dear one serving is not one idli. This recipe makes 24 to 25 idlis and it is for 5 people. So 5 idli per serving, 281 calories. 🙂

      Hi,
You have to use either soda or eno as this is instant version.

      Hi Amita!
Use 1 tsp baking soda and 1 tsp lemon juice instead of ENO.

Tried this recipe taste was awesome but Idli came out flat, inspite of adding the right amount of eno. What could be the problem ? I also tried in different batches putting eno separately

      Hi Malini!
Glad to know that it came out awesome(tastewise). Thanks for the feedback.
The only possible reasons could be
      1, Expired eno
2, Watery consistency of the batter.
      Looking forward for your reply.
