This Sweet Chutney / Date and Tamarind Chutney / Khajoor-Imli Ki chutney has perfect balance of flavors of sweet and sour using dates, tamarind and jaggery. This chutney is used in many Chaat items like Pani puri, Bhel puri, Sev puri, Ragada puri, Dahi puri, even with Samosa or Pakoras. This is versatile Indian condiments. Sweet Chutney is one stop chutney recipe solution for all chaat and fried snacks.
You can store this chutney in air tight container for 1 to 2 months in freezer. If you don’t have dates, double the quantity of jaggery.
I usually keep this chutney thick and store it in freezer. I add water at the time of use. Some dishes require thin chutney like Pani puri, Dahi Vada, Ragda Pattice. And some require thick chutney like Samosa, Pakoras. I add water accordingly.
