Summer time is Mango time… big time! This is the time when the grocery stores and markets are full of plump, juicy, and ripe mangoes.

Mango is one of the most versatile fruits. You can make so many recipes from mango.

Mangoes work in cake, mousse, drinks, smoothies, cookies, ice cream, bread, curry, salsa, tacos, BBQ, burgers, soups and salads, and even sushi.

Today I am sharing my favorite recipe Mango flavored Pani Puri Pani recipe. It is sweet, tangy, and spicy. This gives the golgappa a unique twist.

Pani puri is the most popular Indian street food and is loved by everyone whether kids or adults.

Well, for me pani puri tastes best when Golgappe Ka Pani is perfect. Because the real taste of the Gol Gappa comes from the pani itself.

Now, most of the time, we are fine with just two flavors of the Pani, teekha pani and mitha pani (Sweet water).

But, what if you could get more creative and make up another variety of pani puri pani?

So, get the ingredients ready and make this mango-flavored Pani variation for your next Chaat party and I am sure your guests will be impressed!

Before that let’s briefly know what is Pani puri ka paani?

What is Golgappe Ka Pani?

Well, if you are an Indian, you will not need the answer to this question.

The most loved street food of India, Golgappe aka pani puri has small Puri which is stuffed with Aloo or Chana Masala and then filled with flavored water.

For my non-Indian readers, Pani translates to water.

This flavored water is called Golgappe Ka Pani, which brings real taste to the Golgappas.

It can be tangy, spicy, or sweet. There are two famous Pani recipes, one sweet one, and another spicy and tangy one.

I have already shared those recipes here so today I am sharing the recipe of pani puri pani with mango flavor.

puri filled with potato stuffing and pani

Ingredients required

  • Mango: Use ripe mango.
  • Mint leaves: Always use fresh mint leaves because the flavor of the pani (spiced water) purely depends on the mint leaves. Only use the leaves and discard the stems because stems may make the water bitter tasting.
  • Cilantro: Same as mint leaves, you want to use fresh leaves and not wilted. Use stems and leaves both.
  • Boondi: It is optional and used for garnishing the water
  • Green chilies: Adjust the number of chilies depending on the type of chili you’re using and how spicy you prefer your water.
  • Ginger: gives nice flavors and it’s good for digestion.
  • Roasted cumin powder: Gives earthy and nice flavors to the pani puri water.
  • Water: Use chilled, refrigerated water.
  • Lemon juice: It is used to add the tang to the pani puri water. You can use raw mangos too instead of lemon juice.
  • Salt: Use black salt for the best flavors.

Notes, tips, and quick FAQs

  • Do not use warm water for making it. Instead, chilled water is the best.
  • Make sure to use fresh coriander leaves, green chilies, and mint. Because the fresh produce kind of makes all the difference in the end.
  • Refrigerate all the pani well for at least 2 hours and serve them only when everyone is ready to eat. That way, all the ingredients will mix in well and will taste perfect.
  • You can store the concentrate for days and add it to chilled water as and when required.
Can we use other fruits instead of a mango?

Yes, you can use orange juice, guava juice, peach, pineapple, or strawberries instead of mangos.

How To Serve?

Start by making a hole in the center of the puri by breaking the top layer only. Make sure not to break it completely.
Add 1-2 teaspoons of stuffing of your choice. Add some chopped onion on top.
Fill the puri with golgappa ka water. Immediately put it in your mouth before puri gets soft, soggy, or starts leaking.
